New Delhi : Dr Shaheen Shahid, arrested last week in Faridabad in connection with a “white-collar” terror module linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), used a SIM card registered with a false address. This was the number she used most frequently. It was also found that Dr Shaheen did not list her father’s residence in Lucknow as her permanent address, instead, she provided the address of her brother, Parvez Ansari, who was detained by Uttar Pradesh Police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad earlier this week following a raid at his residence in Lucknow.
While analysing Dr Shaheen’s travel records, it was found that she had visited Thailand for a brief period in 2013 after leaving her job in Kanpur. Investigators also discovered that approximately two months ago, Dr Shaheen travelled to Lucknow to visit her brother, Parvez Ansari, after which the two travelled together to Kanpur, a movement that is now under scrutiny by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad and intelligence teams.
Preliminary findings suggest that Dr Shaheen had been tasked with establishing and leading the women’s wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in India, operating under the banner of Jamaat-ul-Momineen, a recently launched network focused on female recruitment and operational activities. Investigative agencies believe that her activities were aimed at creating a women-led radicalisation and recruitment network within the country.
Sadia’s husband, Yusuf Azhar, was reportedly one of the key planners of the 1999 Kandahar hijacking and was killed earlier this year during Operation Sindoor in Bahawalpur. Parvez Ansari, who works as a senior resident doctor at Integral University in Lucknow, attempted to leave the city following his sister’s arrest on Monday night. He was, however, intercepted by law enforcement and is currently undergoing questioning.
During the raid at Parvez Ansari’s house on November 12, officials recovered six mobile phones, three knives, an international calling card, and several other digital devices, which are now under forensic examination.
