10-km Long Road Show Held in Agra Amid Tight Security for Deepti Sharma

Agra (Uttar Pradesh): Even as the national capital Delhi remains tense and mournful following the recent terrorist attack near the Red Fort, celebrations broke out around 245 km away in Agra on Thursday morning. The city erupted in joy as World Cup–winning cricketer and Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma returned home for the first time since India’s historic triumph. Despite the sombre mood prevailing in the country, Agra witnessed a festive atmosphere with an elaborate 10-kilometre-long road show organised in her honour.

Deepti Sharma had delivered a stellar all-round performance in the World Cup final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on November 2, scoring 58 runs off 58 balls, including one six and three fours, against South Africa, and later taking five wickets for 39 runs. Across the entire tournament, she claimed 22 wickets — the highest among all bowlers — while also scoring 215 runs and taking three catches.
