Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Blames India for Islamabad Suicide Blast That Killed 12

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has accused India of orchestrating the suicide blast outside an Islamabad court that killed at least 12 people. He also alleged New Delhi’s involvement in a separate attack on a cadet college in Wana near the Afghan border, claims made without evidence and widely seen as an attempt to deflect domestic pressure.

According to the government-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), Sharif blamed what he called “Indian-sponsored terrorist proxies” for both incidents. “These attacks are a continuation of India’s state-sponsored terrorism aimed at destabilizing Pakistan,” he said on Tuesday.

The suicide bombing on Monday targeted the Islamabad District Judicial Complex, while another attack took place at a cadet college in South Waziristan on the same day. Sharif alleged that both were carried out by groups trained and funded by New Delhi, saying “Indian-backed militants attacked Islamabad while their network from Afghan soil targeted innocent children in Wana.”

‘Pakistan in a State of War,’ Says Defence Minister

Earlier, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif described the situation as dire, declaring that the country was “in a state of war.” He said the suicide bombing was a “wake-up call” for the nation and directly blamed the Taliban administration in Kabul for allowing militants to operate from Afghan territory.

“The war between Afghanistan and Pakistan is no longer limited to the Durand Line,” Asif said, warning that ongoing peace talks with Afghanistan’s Taliban regime now appeared “unrealistic.”

He added, “Anyone who believes this war is confined to the Afghan border should take today’s suicide attack as a wake-up call. This is a war for all of Pakistan. The Pakistan Army is making daily sacrifices to protect citizens and maintain internal security.”

Background of Escalating Tensions

Islamabad has increasingly linked the resurgence of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacks to Kabul’s Taliban rulers, accusing them of sheltering militants. In recent weeks, Pakistani officials have even referred to the TTP as “Fitna Al Hindustan,” a name meant to falsely suggest Indian involvement a claim India has consistently rejected as baseless.

The latest accusations from Shehbaz Sharif come despite Pakistan’s long history of sheltering and supporting militant groups operating across South Asia. The country has often blamed India for internal terror incidents even as extremism within its own borders continues to escalate uncontrollably.
