DK Shivakumar Refuses to Comment on Honeytrap Claims Involving Karnataka Politicians

Bengaluru : Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has declined to comment on the controversy surrounding allegations that honeytrap rackets have targeted several ministers and MLAs in the state. The issue, which has gained significant attention, was raised in the state assembly by Cooperation Minister KN Rajanna, who claimed that at least 48 MLAs from different parties had fallen victim to the honeytrap network. Rajanna also suggested that the network spanned across the country and involved several Union ministers.
Speaking on Sunday, Shivakumar clarified that, as the Karnataka Congress chief, he had spoken to Rajanna and advised him to file a formal complaint regarding the claims. However, he refrained from elaborating on Rajanna’s statement or the issue itself. When asked about the possibility of Rajanna and Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi traveling to Delhi to brief the party high command on the matter, Shivakumar dismissed the speculation, stating that anyone could meet anyone, including MPs, MLAs, and others.
Shivakumar further emphasized that he would not engage in discussions about the honeytrap claims and shifted the responsibility to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. When asked if the issue was an embarrassment for the Congress and the state government, he suggested that reporters direct the question to the chief minister, avoiding further commentary on the matter.
