Video | Haris Rauf Gets Triggered by ‘ Kohli Kohli’ Chants, Makes ‘6-0’ gesture in Reply: What Does it Mean?

As Pakistan continues to struggle against India on the cricket field, questions are now being raised about player conduct as well. In the Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match on Sunday, Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf made provocative gestures toward Indian fans after failing to make an impact with the ball.

A video circulating widely on social media shows Rauf standing near the boundary rope, making a symbolic “plane crash” gesture. The act quickly angered Indian spectators, many of whom were chanting Virat Kohli’s name at him to remind the pacer of the T20 World Cup 2022 contest, where Kohli had struck consecutive sixes off his bowling to snatch victory for India.

Rauf then further stoked controversy by flashing a “6-0” signal, a reference linked to Pakistan’s contentious and unverified claims of shooting down six Indian fighter jets during military tensions following Operation Sindoor. The gesture was followed by hand motions imitating planes crashing, adding fuel to the backlash.

Interestingly, the “6-0” rhetoric had already surfaced a day earlier during Pakistan’s training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai. While players were engaged in a friendly football game that ended 6-0, members of the squad repeatedly shouted the scoreline, drawing attention from Indian journalists present at the venue. Observers suggested the chants carried a political undertone rather than a sporting one.

Despite repeated assertions from Pakistani cricketers and former players that politics should remain separate from sport, incidents such as Rauf’s have raised concerns about the sentiments being displayed on the field.

On the cricketing front, Pakistan’s poor run of form continued as India handed them a second consecutive defeat in the Super 4 stage. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India dominated the contest, strengthening their chances of advancing to the final. Depending on results, fans could see another India-Pakistan face-off if both teams make it to the title clash.
