PM Modi to Launch Key Military Conference in Kolkata on September 15

Kolkata– Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open a significant three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) of the armed forces in Kolkata on September 15, according to a Defence official. Scheduled to run from September 15 to 17, the conference will center on institutional reforms, transformation, and operational readiness, as outlined in an official statement.

This year’s event, themed “Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future,” underscores the military’s commitment to enhancing its capabilities. Discussions will focus on deepening integration among the forces, advancing technological modernization, and maintaining robust preparedness across multiple domains. The agenda reflects the armed forces’ dedication to adapting to an evolving global security landscape through strategic and structural reforms.

The conference will bring together key figures, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. Officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and the Integrated Defence Staff will also participate, alongside secretaries from other ministries. This high-level gathering serves as a critical platform for aligning military and civilian leadership on national security priorities.

Interactive sessions with personnel of various ranks will ensure that insights from the field shape strategic discussions, continuing the tradition of inclusive engagement. The event aims to strengthen the armed forces’ agility and decisiveness in a complex geopolitical environment.

The CCC, a premier forum for strategic brainstorming, was last held in Bhopal in 2023, also inaugurated by PM Modi. This year’s Kolkata conference follows Operation Sindoor, a targeted operation launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, highlighting the forces’ coordinated capabilities. The discussions are expected to address ongoing reforms, including the establishment of integrated Theatre Commands to enhance operational efficiency.
