Erika Kirk Vows to Uphold Husband’s Legacy After Tragic Assassination

Erika Kirk, widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, delivered her first public statement on Friday, two days after her husband’s assassination at Utah Valley University. Speaking on CBS Live, the 36-year-old expressed gratitude to law enforcement for apprehending the suspect, noting their tireless efforts to ensure justice. She also thanked President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and his wife, Usha Vance, for their support, including arranging Air Force Two to transport Charlie’s body back to Phoenix. “My husband loved you,” Erika said, addressing Trump directly.
Erika, a former Miss Arizona and NCAA basketball player, shared heartfelt memories of Charlie, emphasizing his devotion to their two young children a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son and his passion for America, faith, and sports teams like the Chicago Cubs and Oregon Ducks. “He loved me with all his heart, and I knew that every day,” she said, visibly emotional. Erika vowed to continue Charlie’s work, declaring that Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour” and annual Americafest in Phoenix will proceed as planned. “His voice will remain, louder and clearer than ever,” she affirmed.
Charlie, founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot on Wednesday during a speaking event. Erika praised the organization’s staff, including Chief of Staff Michael McCoy, for their support during this challenging time. She also highlighted Charlie’s commitment to family values, noting that reviving the American family would have been his top priority if he had pursued public office.
Erika’s remarks underscored her resolve to honor her husband’s legacy. “In a world full of chaos, doubt, and uncertainty, my husband’s wisdom will endure,” she said. President Trump, a close ally of Charlie, announced he will posthumously award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom and plans to attend his funeral in Arizona next weekend.
