
Aizawl : After launching infrastructure projects in Mizoram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s strong economic performance, noting that the country’s economy grew by 7.8% in the first quarter of 2025-26, making it the fastest-growing major economy in the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the next-generation GST reforms, highlighting that lower taxes on many products will ease the burden on families. PM Modi added that reduced GST on cement, construction materials, vehicles, and most hotels will make travel, accommodation, and dining cheaper, boosting festive season spending and encouraging more people to explore different parts of the country.
After inaugurating the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the project is more than just a railway connection, calling it a lifeline of transformation” for Mizoram. He explained that it will revolutionise lives and livelihoods, enabling farmers and businesses to access wider markets, expanding education and healthcare options, and creating employment opportunities in tourism, transport, and the hospitality sectors.
After inaugurating infrastructure projects in Mizoram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised opposition parties for practising vote bank politics, saying, “For a long time, some political parties in our country practised vote bank politics. He added that his government’s approach is different, with previously neglected and marginalised communities now taking a central role in development.

After inaugurating the Bairabi-Sairang railway line, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “From today, Aizawl will be on India’s railway map. Overcoming many challenges, including difficult terrain, this Bairabi-Sairang railway line has become a reality. The skills of our engineers and the spirit of our workers made this possible. He recalled laying the foundation stone for the project a few years ago and emphasised that the new line now directly connects Sairang in Mizoram with Delhi via the Rajdhani Express, marking a historic milestone in linking the state to the national railway network.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the people of Mizoram for their longstanding commitment to the country, saying, “Whether it is the freedom movement or nation building, the people of Mizoram have always come forward to contribute. Sacrifice and service, courage and compassion, these values are at the centre of Mizo society. He said that these qualities continue to guide the state’s role in India’s development, calling the inauguration of the Bairabi-Sairang railway line a historic day for both the nation and the people of Mizoram.
Vaishnaw added that PM Modi will launch three new trains, including the Rajdhani Express to New Delhi. He noted that the railway connectivity will boost tourism, make homestays more popular, create new jobs, and start cargo operations within the week, allowing more people to experience Mizoram’s scenic beauty.
