Army Chief : Pakistan ‘WAR’ didn’t end on May 10 ceasefire; Op Sindoor carried on with key decisions

New Delhi: Chief of Army General Upendra Dwivedi emphasized that the conflict sparked by Operation Sindoor did not conclude with the May 10, 2025, ceasefire. Speaking at the launch of the book Operation Sindoor: Before and Beyond in New Delhi, he highlighted that critical decisions and actions extended far beyond the official cessation of hostilities, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
Conflict Persisted Post-Ceasefire
General Dwivedi clarified that while many might assume the war ended on May 10, the reality was far more complex, with significant actions continuing for an extended period. He refrained from sharing further details, noting their sensitive nature. Launched on May 7, 2025, in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, Operation Sindoor saw the Indian Army conduct cross-border strikes. Pakistan retaliated with missile and drone attacks on Indian bases, most of which were neutralized by Indian defenses. India, in turn, executed precise strikes on Pakistani airbases and radar systems, leading to heavy artillery exchanges along the Line of Control (LoC).

Seamless Execution and Strategic Planning
Commending the Army’s efforts, General Dwivedi described its operations as a “rhythmic wave,” marked by flawless coordination and clear execution, as reported by India Today. He revealed that the operation was preceded by in-depth discussions on crafting a “calibrated response” and included consultations with veterans for strategic guidance following the Pahalgam attack.

Ongoing Tensions at LoC
General Dwivedi, quoted by PTI, cautioned that it is premature to assess Operation Sindoor’s full impact on the LoC situation. “Has state-sponsored terrorism ended? I don’t think so because infiltration attempts are still happening on LoC,” he stated, adding that while several terrorists were neutralized, others managed to escape.
