Gujarat on High Alert: IMD Warns of Heavy Rainfall in 15 Districts

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for 15 districts in Gujarat, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall on July 28, 2025. The affected districts include Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, and Narmada. The alert signals potential disruptions due to intense monsoon activity.
The IMD reports that a monsoon trough, combined with a cyclonic circulation over south Jharkhand, is driving the severe weather conditions across the state. While some areas have experienced a brief respite from rainfall in recent days, leading to rising temperatures and humidity, the weather department anticipates a resurgence of heavy showers in these districts. Residents are advised to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions as the monsoon intensifies.
This latest update follows a series of weather warnings issued by the IMD, with earlier alerts indicating heavy rainfall in fewer districts. The current red alert underscores the heightened risk of flooding and related challenges in the specified regions. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure public safety.
