New Delhi : A 26-year-old woman alleged that she was gang-raped in a moving ambulance after collapsing during a Home Guard recruitment physical test in Bihar’s Bodh Gaya. According to police, the woman claimed she was assaulted by multiple individuals while unconscious in the vehicle.
Hours after the FIR was registered, police arrested two suspects — Vinay Kumar, the ambulance driver, and Ajit Kumar, a technician on board the vehicle. While both are currently in custody and under interrogation, the Gaya Police called the response “swift and immediate.”
The forensic team is expected to submit a preliminary report soon. According to the police complaint, the woman said she fainted during the physical test and was only partially conscious while being transported. She later informed police and hospital staff that three to four men inside the ambulance had sexually assaulted her.
City SSP Ramanand Kaushal said, On July 24, during a Home Guard recruitment race at BMP Bodhgaya, a female candidate fainted and was taken to the hospital… She reported a rape incident involving two accused—an ambulance driver and a technician—both of whom have been arrested and are undergoing medical examination.
As the incident reignited concerns about law and order in the state, Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ramvilas) chief Chirag Paswan said, “The way crime is happening in Bihar, the administration has totally bowed down in front of criminals.”
