The Swachh Survekshan 2024-2025 awards, organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, were announced today. This year, Gujarat’s three cities have bagged awards in different categories. Ahmedabad has been awarded in the “Cleanest Big City” category. Adding to the accolades are Surat and Gandhinagar, being added in the “Super Swachh League”.
The award ceremony took place today (July 17) at the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. The awards were being handed over by President Droupadi Murmu. In the category of “Cleanest Big City”, where the population is more than 10 lakhs, Ahmedabad has secured the award. Whereas in the category of Best City in “Solid Waste Management”, Surat managed to bag the award. In addition, Surat and Gandhinagar got added in the “Super Swachh League”.
It is a matter of pride for the state as three of its cities have achieved significant milestones as a part of the cleanliness campaign. To receive the awards, the state Health Minister Rushikesh Patel reached New Delhi along with other officials.
In Ahmedabad, the atmosphere became celebratory as the live telecast of the ceremony was viewed by the AMC officials and BJP leaders. After the results were announced, the AMC cleanliness workers were congratulated, and sweets were also distributed by BJP leaders and corporators. Ahmedabad, which was ranked at the 15th place in the year 2015, has now come up at the 1st rank.
At the national level, following are the awards-
- India’s Cleanest City- No.1: Indore, Madhya Pradesh
- India’s Cleanest City- No.2: Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh
- India’s Cleanest City-No.3: Mysuru, Karnataka

- Cleanest Small City: New Delhi Municipal Council, Delhi
- Cleanest Medium City: Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
- Cleanest Capital/UT City: Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh
- Fastest Mover Big City: Raipur, Chhattisgarh
- Fastest Mover Medium City: Mathura-Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh
- Fastest Mover Small City: Orai, Uttar Pradesh
- Cleanest City in North Zone: Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh
