Gujarat Braces for Heavy Rainfall as IMD Issues Orange Alert for Three Districts

Ahmedabad – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast significant rainfall across Gujarat for the next week, with an orange alert issued for Sabarkantha, Aravalli, and Mahisagar due to expectations of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Eight other districts, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, and Dahod, are under a yellow alert for heavy rain. Ahmedabad is likely to experience moderate showers during this period.

According to the IMD, the monsoon is expected to bring intense rainfall to eastern parts of North Gujarat, select areas of South Gujarat, and portions of Saurashtra. Recent data from the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) indicates that Satlasana in Mehsana recorded 4 inches of rain, underscoring the active monsoon conditions. The IMD also noted that Talod in Sabarkantha received 2 inches of rainfall, while other regions saw lighter showers.

The weather department has warned of potential disruptions due to the heavy rainfall, particularly in the districts under the orange alert, where thunderstorms and strong winds may accompany the downpour. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and prepared for possible impacts on daily life and infrastructure.
