Veraval Court District Judge Gets Bomb Threat E-mail: Court Complex Evacuated, Search Operations Ensue

Court Reopened After Nothing Suspicious Found

The case of threatening e-mails and bomb threats continues to spread panic among citizens. One such incident took place today (July 7) morning, in which the Veraval Court received a threatening e-mail, which mentioned about a bomb. As soon as the e-mail was received, the court premises were evacuated with immediate effect.

As per sources, District Judge of Veraval Court, Vikramsinh Gohil, received a threatening e-mail early in the morning. In the e-mail, there was a mention of blowing up the court with RDX. Gohil immediately informed the security agencies about the e-mail. As a result of which, the entire complex including the old building of the court was evacuated.

Teams of higher police officials, along with the bomb squad and the dog squad reached the court. In addition, security agencies like the LCB and the SOG also reached the spot. An intensive search operation was conducted, which reportedly went on for about an hour. However, the police did not find anything suspicious in the court complex.

Speaking on the issue, Gir-Somnath DySP VR Khengar informed that at the end of the intensive checking, no objectionable item was found from the court complex. As a result of which, the court complex has now been opened again for work purposes. The fear which this incident evoked in Veraval has now subsided, he added.

Incidents like these are rising at an alarming rate. Citizens’ lives are put on stake by such disturbing activities. In one such similar incident, the Gujarat High Court had received a threatening e-mail on June 9. Police had reached the High Court and had conducted intensive checking. For safety reasons, the functioning of the courts had been discontinued after recess.

In a more recent incident, two schools in Vadodara received a bomb threat on the same day, frightening the school staff. To be precise, the DR Amin School in Akota area and the Cygnus World School in Harni area had received a bomb threat each. In both the cases, the police had not found anything suspicious.

Such hoax bomb threats disrupt the functioning of workplaces and create panic in people. It is high time now that the police launch a crackdown on the miscreants behind such fake e-mails.
