Lionel Messi’s brace powers Inter Miami to a third straight win

Montreal: After being eliminated in the pre-quarterfinals of the FIFA Club World Cup by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami returned home and returned to winning ways in the Major League Soccer (MLS). On Saturday, Messi scored two brilliant goals, helping Inter Miami secure a 4-1 win over CF Montreal their third consecutive victory in the league.
The Club World Cup is now into its semifinal stage:
8 July: Chelsea vs Fluminense
9 July: PSG vs Real Madrid
In Saturday’s match, Montreal struck early, taking the lead in just the 2nd minute with a goal by Prince Owusu.
But by the 33rd minute, Messi assisted Taydi Allende for the equalizer, making it 1-1.
Then came Messi’s magic — in the 40th minute, he netted his first goal of the match, putting Inter Miami ahead 2-1.
In the 60th minute, Telasco Segovia extended Miami’s lead to 3-1, capitalizing on strong defensive support that held Montreal at bay.
Just two minutes later, Messi scored again, sealing the match 4-1 for Miami.
With this performance, Messi now has 12 goals in 14 MLS matches this season — continuing his incredible run in American Montreal.
