Father Stabs 10 Year Old Son To Death In Delhi Over Argument About Playing In Rain, Arrested

Delhi: In a heart-wrenching incident that has left Delhi residents in shock, a 40-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 10-year-old son to death in a fit of rage on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place in the Sagarpur area of southwest Delhi, where the boy had insisted on playing outside in the rain, police said.

According to officials, the man, a labourer and single parent, lost his temper when the child refused to obey him. The child’s mother had passed away a few years ago, and the family of five lived in a cramped single-room apartment. The deceased was the third of four siblings, all minors.

Police were alerted through a PCR call from Dada Dev Hospital around 1:30 PM. Doctors informed them that a man had brought in his son with stab injuries and had confessed to attacking the child in anger.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Amit Goel said, “The investigating officer reached the hospital immediately. The boy, aged 10, was declared brought dead. The father confessed to the crime and was taken into custody. A case of murder has been registered, and the murder weapon, a kitchen knife, has been recovered.”

The accused told police that he became enraged when his son disobeyed him and continued playing in the rain. In a sudden burst of anger, he picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the child in the chest. He reportedly realized the severity of his actions immediately and rushed the boy to the hospital, but it was too late.

While police believe the father has no prior criminal record, the investigation is ongoing. A senior officer, speaking anonymously, stated, “As of now, we don’t think he has a criminal record or history of domestic violence. We don’t know if the accused was drunk. The house is being inspected. We also have to look after the three other children and find relatives, if any. One of them was in the same room and saw his brother being stabbed. The other two were playing nearby. Everyone is in shock.”

In a chilling revelation, the victim’s sister alleged that their father frequently consumed alcohol and would beat them. “Today, my brother went out to play in the rain. My father objected and chased him with a knife. He stabbed him in the chest. I want strict action against him,” she said. Their brother, who also witnessed the attack, said, “My father was drunk and not listening. I tried to save my brother, but he stabbed him. We want justice.”

The police are now speaking to neighbours and extended family, reviewing CCTV footage, and preparing to record detailed statements from the children and other witnesses. The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the minors involved. Authorities are also working to ensure the safety and care of the surviving children, who are now left orphaned and traumatized.
