Ahmedabad: Tata Sons and Air India have announced financial compensation for the families of those affected by the recent Boeing 787-8 plane crash in Ahmedabad. To assist grieving families through the compensation process, a facilitation center has been established at the Taj Hotel on Sindhu Bhavan Road.
Tata Sons will provide a compensation of ₹1 crore to the families of the deceased. In addition, Air India has announced interim compensation of ₹25 lakh for each of the deceased and injured survivors to help meet urgent financial needs.
The facilitation center is located on the third floor of the Taj Hotel. Upon arrival, family members are first asked to provide basic information about their relation to the deceased or injured victim. They are then seated in a waiting area before being called in for a one-on-one meeting with a designated officer. During the meeting, officials verify essential documents such as the death certificate, Aadhaar card, and DNA report. If any documents are missing, families are informed about the requirements. Once all documents are submitted, compensation cheques are typically issued within three to four days.
Families are contacted in advance by Air India and given appointments to visit the center. The process includes personal verification of identity and medical documents for the injured, such as Aadhaar cards and hospital admission records.
The main purpose of this center is to streamline the compensation process and support affected families during this difficult time. All documents collected are sent to Air India’s Delhi office for final verification. Once approved, the compensation amount is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the victims’ families.
As of June 23, compensation has already been disbursed to the families of three victims.
