
Sabarkantha: A devastating accident occurred early Monday morning on National Highway 48 near Katwad village in Prantij taluka, Sabarkantha district, when a private bus traveling from Borivali, Mumbai to Udaipur collided with a truck. The impact of the crash was so severe that the bus was nearly torn in half, resulting in three fatalities and injuries to at least seven passengers.
According to reports, the private bus had struck the side railing of an overbridge and had come to a halt when the truck rammed into it. The collision created panic among passengers. Two individuals, a man and a woman, were trapped between the seats and metal sheets. Firefighters rescued their bodies after nearly 30 minutes of cutting through the wreckage. Both were declared dead at the scene and taken to the Prantij Government Hospital for postmortem examination.
Emergency teams, including Prantij police, highway traffic personnel, four ‘108’ ambulances, and fire brigades from Prantij and Himmatnagar, rushed to the site. The seven injured were transported to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital for treatment. Among the deceased are two men and one woman, whose identities are yet to be confirmed.
