Gujarat Gram Panchayat Elections: Nearly 81 Lakh Voters Set to Decide Fate Tomorrow, Results on June 25

The Gujarat State Election Commission has announced the schedule for general, by-elections, mid-term, and division elections for 8,326 gram panchayats, with voting set for June 22 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Approximately 81 lakh voters across the state are expected to exercise their franchise, as reported by the commission. The results of these gram panchayat elections will be declared on June 25.
Panchayat Elections Cancelled in Select Talukas
Due to by-elections for the Kadi and Visavadar Assembly constituencies, gram panchayat elections in Kadi, Jotana, Bhensana, Visavadar, Junagadh Rural, and Bagasara talukas have been cancelled for Sunday’s polling.
751 Panchayats Declared Uncontested, 272 Remain Vacant
Out of 4,564 gram panchayats, 751 have been declared uncontested, while 272 have no candidates, leaving their seats vacant. Voting will proceed for 3,541 panchayats under general, division, and mid-term elections, and 353 panchayats for by-elections. A total of 3,656 sarpanch and 16,224 member posts will be contested. Polling will occur at 10,479 stations across the state, with 3,939 identified as sensitive and 336 as highly sensitive.
Voters are required to present their EPIC card, though any of 14 recognized identification documents will be accepted in certain cases. Voting will be conducted via ballot papers. To ensure security, additional police forces and patrolling teams will be deployed in sensitive areas. Public gatherings and rallies will be prohibited 48 hours before the election.
