Air India Chairman Expresses Deep Regret Over AI-171 Crash

Ahmedabad : N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons and Air India, issued a heartfelt apology following the tragic crash of Air India flight AI-171 in Ahmedabad on June 12, which claimed over 270 lives. In his first public statement since the incident, Chandrasekaran expressed profound sorrow, stating, “This is an extremely challenging situation, and words cannot adequately convey the grief we feel for those affected.”

Speaking to ANI, Chandrasekaran extended his deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to supporting them. “Our thoughts are with those who lost loved ones in this tragedy. Air India is fully dedicated to assisting the families and addressing their needs during this difficult time,” he said.

The Air India flight, operating from Ahmedabad to London’s Gatwick Airport, crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in one of the deadliest aviation disasters in recent history. Chandrasekaran acknowledged the public’s demand for accountability, assuring that Air India is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation led by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and other authorities. “We are working closely with investigators to understand the cause of this tragedy and will take all necessary steps to prevent such an incident in the future,” he added.

The chairman also addressed concerns about the airline’s safety protocols, reaffirming Air India’s commitment to restoring public trust. “Safety is our top priority, and we are taking every measure to ensure the highest standards are upheld,” Chandrasekaran told ANI. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with authorities examining the aircraft’s black box to determine the cause of the accident.
