Air India Announces Additional Rs 25 Lakh Interim Compensation, On Top of Rs 1 Crore, for Crash Victims’ Families and Sole Survivor

Ahmedabad: Air India, owned by the Tata Group, has announced an interim compensation of Rs 25 lakh for each family of the deceased and the sole survivor of the recent crash. This is in addition to the Rs 1 crore compensation previously declared by Tata Sons.
“As part of our continued efforts, Air India will be providing an interim payment of Rs 25 lakh or approximately 21,000 GBP each to the families of the deceased and to the survivor, to help address immediate financial needs. This is in addition to the ₹1 crore or approximately 85,000 GBP support already announced by Tata Sons,” the airline stated on social media platform X.
Air India CEO Campbell Wilson confirmed the support efforts underway in Ahmedabad: “Air India management team are in the city. We will remain present in Ahmedabad as long as it takes. To provide immediate financial support, Air India will be making an interim payment of Rs 25 lakh to each of the families of the deceased and also to the survivors.”
Following the tragedy, the airline had earlier committed Rs 1 crore per deceased passenger, along with covering the medical expenses of the injured and contributing to the reconstruction of the B J Medical College hostel.
Wilson added that the airline is coordinating with authorities to assist in the reunification process with families, and appealed for privacy for those affected by the incident.
