Gujarat High Court Receives Bomb Threat: Chief Justice Announces Court’s Closure Amid Security Check

Gandhinagar: An anonymous bomb threat sent via email to the Gujarat High Court on Monday morning triggered an immediate security lockdown and led to the suspension of court proceedings for the remainder of the day.

Authorities were alerted after the court’s official email received an anonymous message warning of an attempt to bomb the premises. Security teams, including the Bomb Disposal Squad and Dog Squad, were swiftly deployed. All entry and exit points to the High Court complex were sealed, and a thorough search operation was launched.

The police, along with senior officials from the Ahmedabad Police and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), supervised the security response. Vehicles and visitors entering the court were subjected to strict checks, and public access was temporarily restricted.

Though no suspicious object was discovered during the initial search, police confirmed that the threat is being treated with utmost seriousness. A cyber investigation is currently underway to trace the source of the email.

In light of the incident, Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court ordered the court’s closure after the lunch recess. A notification from the Registrar General stated:

“Because of unavoidable circumstances, it has been decided to discontinue the functioning of the Courts after lunch, i.e., after 1:45 pm. The Courts are requested to convey to the lawyers that they will not be functioning after lunch, and also that all will have to leave the premises as early as possible, as a security check of the entire Court premises is required.”

This incident follows a recent spate of similar threats targeting schools, stadiums, and other public venues across the country. While no explosives have been found so far, security has been intensified throughout the court premises.
