Ahmedabad: Gujarat is witnessing a fresh spike in COVID-19 infections, with 119 new cases reported on June 4, pushing the number of active cases in the state to 508. While the rise is notable, health officials confirmed that there have been no deaths linked to the virus during this period.
According to data released by the Gujarat Health Department, 18 patients are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, while the vast majority, 490 individuals, are recovering at home under isolation. On a positive note, 72 people have successfully recovered and were discharged.
This rise in cases mirrors a broader national trend, as India sees COVID-19 infections creeping up again in several states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Kerala. The Union Health Ministry reported that active cases across the country now stand at 4,302.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, though they emphasize that the current wave appears to be less severe, with fewer hospitalizations and 3 deaths reported in Gujarat so far. Health experts continue to urge the public to remain cautious and adhere to basic preventive measures.
