17-Year-Old Pakistani TikToker Sana Yousaf Killed in Islamabad : Report

A teenage Pakistani social media influencer, Sana Yousaf, aged 17, was fatally shot at her home in Islamabad on Monday, media outlets have reported. The killing took place in the area covered by Sumbal police station, marking another incident in a series of similar cases reported nationwide in recent times.

According to The Express Tribune, an unidentified gunman shot Sana at point-blank range after entering her residence and then escaped from the scene. Police sources told the publication that “The killer reportedly entered the house and opened fire before fleeing the scene.”

Sana, who was originally from Chitral in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, had gained considerable popularity on TikTok through her video content.

Gunman Believed to be House Guest

SAMAA TV reported that the perpetrator may have been someone visiting her home at the time of the attack.

The television channel quoted police officials saying: “Sana Yousuf, who hailed from Upper Chitral and resided in Sector G-13 of Islamabad, was fatally shot by a guest who had come to visit her at her residence. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the incident, and police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect.”

Following the shooting, Sana’s body was transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for autopsy procedures. Both media sources confirmed that while police investigations continue, no suspects have been detained and the reason behind the killing remains unclear. The murder has sparked widespread anger across social media platforms, with her supporters calling for justice. This incident represents another case this year involving the murder of a young female content creator in Pakistan.

Quetta Father Kills 15-Year-Old Daughter Over TikTok Activity

In a separate incident earlier this year, a 15-year-old named Hira was reportedly murdered by her father and maternal uncle in Quetta in what authorities believe was an honor-based killing related to her TikTok usage, as reported by ARY News.

The report stated that her father, Anwarul-Haq, became enraged by her continued use of the social media platform after repeatedly telling her to stop. When she refused to comply, he allegedly planned the murder with his brother-in-law, Tayyab Ali.

According to police, Anwarul-Haq had been residing in the United States with his family for many years and returned to Pakistan with Hira on January 15. His spouse and two other daughters stayed in the US. Law enforcement officials confirmed the murder was planned in advance. Both suspects were taken into custody and admitted to the crime. The Serious Crime Investigation Wing has taken over the case for continued investigation.
