Mumbai Braces for Light Showers Under Yellow Alert, Says IMD

Mumbai – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for several regions of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, forecasting cloudy skies and light rain across the city today. As of 9 AM, the temperature in Mumbai stands at 28°C, with humidity levels at 78% and wind speeds reaching 29 kmph, creating blustery conditions. The IMD predicts a 25% chance of precipitation, with light showers or drizzle expected to intensify slightly as the day progresses.
The early arrival of the 2025 monsoon has prompted the IMD to issue yellow alerts for Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada, though rainfall intensity is expected to ease in early June. In Mumbai and Thane, rainfall could reach up to 64.5 mm, potentially accompanied by thunder and lightning. Light rain is also forecast for Pune and Satara in Madhya Maharashtra, while scattered showers are expected in Marathwada. Vidarbha may experience cloudy conditions with thundershowers. The IMD has advised farmers to delay sowing due to the anticipated weather patterns.
According to the Centre Pollution Control Bureau (CPCB), Mumbai’s air quality index (AQI) is currently at 67, classified as ‘satisfactory.’ The IMD’s forecast for June 4 indicates similar conditions, with predominantly cloudy skies, light rain or drizzle, and temperatures ranging from 27°C to 33°C.
