A 29-year-old Home Guard jawan, Nitesh Jariya, had tragically died of a heart attack while on duty during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Vadodara. Following the tragic incident, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4,05,000 has been announced for the deceased’s family. Jariya, a resident of Lakshmipura village, had been deployed as part of the security arrangements for the high-profile event.
On Monday, while on duty, he suddenly experienced chest pain, and collapsed. His colleagues had immediately rushed him to Sir Sayajirao General Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. Preliminary reports attributed his death to a heart attack.
Since the Home Guard jawan had died during his duty, former BJP corporator Rajesh Aayar presented this incident as a special case to the Assembly’s dandak Balu Shukla, who informed the Chief Minister. Eventually, it was decided that an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from the state government, and Rs 2 lakh from the Director General of Police would be provided to the deceased jawan’s family as assistance.
Usually, an amount of Rs 5,000 is provided as assistance when a Home Guard jawan dies of an accidental death. However, in this case, an amount of Rs 4,05,000 was given to the family by cheque, by Home Guard Commandant Gaurang Joshi, DG Office official Manish Trivedi, and Rajesh Aayar. Moreover, the deceased’s brother was also assured of a job. Jariya is survived by his wife, a homemaker, and a one-year-old child. The deceased was the only earning member in the family.
