Jharkhand authorities confirmed the state’s initial COVID-19 infection in the ongoing outbreak on Sunday, with a Ranchi resident testing positive following travel from Mumbai, according to a senior health department official.
The patient is currently receiving medical care at a private healthcare facility in the area, the official stated.
“We obtained official verification of Ranchi’s first COVID-19 infection in this current outbreak today. The patient’s health remains stable without additional medical complications,” Ranchi Civil Surgeon Dr Prabhat Kumar informed PTI.
Dr Kumar announced that health screening operations will commence in Ranchi beginning Monday.
“A 20-bed isolation facility is being established at Ranchi’s Sadar Hospital,” the official noted.
The individual who contracted the virus shared on social media: “India currently has 257 confirmed COVID-19 infections, and I represent one of these cases.” He continued, “On May 22nd, during my journey from Mumbai to Ranchi, I experienced a loss of consciousness mid-flight. As a Jharkhand Film Development Corporation Limited member, I was scheduled to review several films, but my medical condition prevented this activity.”
Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari stated the state maintains vigilance regarding the new COVID-19 variant and confirmed complete governmental preparedness.
“This represents a routine circumstance. Public alarm is unnecessary. Our health department continues comprehensive situation monitoring,” Ansari explained. The minister indicated the government awaits fresh directives from federal authorities.
“State leadership will promptly implement required measures upon receiving federal guidance,” Ansari concluded.
