Paresh Rawal Repays Signing Fee with Interest After Hera Pheri 3 Exit

In a surprising development in the ongoing Hera Pheri 3 controversy, veteran actor Paresh Rawal has returned his signing amount, along with 15% interest, following his abrupt departure from the much-anticipated Bollywood sequel. Rawal, who was set to earn ₹15 crore for reprising his iconic role as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, reportedly paid back ₹11 lakh, the initial signing fee, plus additional interest and a goodwill amount to amicably sever ties with the project.
The actor’s decision to exit stemmed from his discomfort with a contract clause stipulating that the remaining ₹14.89 crore of his fee would only be paid one month after the film’s release, expected in late 2026 or 2027. With principal photography not slated to begin until next year, Rawal was unwilling to wait nearly two years for the bulk of his payment. This clause, combined with the prolonged timeline, prompted his withdrawal, which has sparked significant backlash in the industry and among fans.
Rawal’s exit, announced last week, shocked the film’s team and its loyal fanbase, who have eagerly awaited the third installment of the Hera Pheri franchise for nearly two decades. The actor had already participated in a promotional shoot, filmed on the set of Priyadarshan’s Bhooth Bangla, alongside co-stars Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. The cult classic series, known for its comedic brilliance, faces uncertainty following Rawal’s departure.
Adding to the drama, Akshay Kumar, who also serves as a producer through his company Cape of Good Films, has initiated legal action against Rawal, seeking ₹25 crore in damages for what the production house deems unprofessional conduct. The lawsuit highlights the financial losses incurred due to Rawal’s exit after signing the contract and participating in initial shoots.
The Hera Pheri saga continues to unfold, leaving fans and industry insiders questioning the future of the beloved franchise.
