Marvel Delays Avengers: Doomsday & Secret Wars, New Dates Revealed

Mumbai: Marvel Studios has pushed back the release dates for its highly anticipated team-up films, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, according to confirmations from Disney.
Avengers: Doomsday, originally set for May 1, 2026, will now hit theaters on December 18, 2026, a seven-month postponement. Following this, Avengers: Secret Wars has also been rescheduled from May 7, 2027, to December 17, 2027.
The reshuffle, confirmed by Disney on Thursday, also impacts other upcoming Marvel titles. Several previously unannounced Marvel films have been removed from the release calendar, including a movie slated for February 13, 2026. Additionally, dates initially reserved for untitled Marvel features on November 6, 2026, and November 5, 2027, are now listed as Untitled Disney films.
With these adjustments, Avengers: Doomsday and Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day are currently the only confirmed Marvel Cinematic Universe releases for 2026. Fans will also note a significant gap in Marvel’s theatrical releases, with no film between The Fantastic 4: First Steps (July 25, 2025) and the fourth installment of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man (July 31, 2026), spanning over a year.
Doomsday and Secret Wars are significant productions for Marvel Studios, expected to feature a diverse cast, including the reported return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. These films are also anticipated to unite characters from various Marvel factions, such as the Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four, and even members of the X-Men universe like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. Production on Doomsday has reportedly accelerated recently, with Robert Downey Jr. sharing a photo with fellow cast members supporting their colleagues at a Thunderbolts screening.
