Maharashtra Shuffle: Over 600 Police Force Transferred in Beed; 21 IPS Officers Shifted Statewide

Mumbai: Authorities on Thursday executed a significant reshuffle within the Maharashtra police force, transferring 606 policemen in Beed district and 21 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the state at the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) level. The move in Beed comes after the district gained notoriety following the murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh last year.

Out of the transferred constables to police sub-inspectors in Beed, 226 had served 12 years in the same tehsil, according to departmental statements. The district’s police force numbers nearly 2,100 personnel.

The statewide IPS officer transfer includes three new DCPs for Mumbai: Rakesh Ola, Sameer Aslam Shaikh, and Rajtilak Roshan. Ola previously served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Ahilyanagar, while Shaikh was the former SP of Satara. Roshan, who was assigned to the Director General of Police office, will now serve in Mumbai. Additionally, Mahendra Pandit, SP of Kolhapur, has been transferred to serve as DCP Thane, with Yogesh Kumar Gupta replacing him as SP Kolhapur.

Meanwhile, DCP Mangesh Shinde, who led the Special Task Force and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), has been reassigned as the Superintendent of Railway Police in Nagpur. During his tenure at the EOW, Shinde was involved in investigations concerning the New India Bank scam and a housing fraud case that led to the arrest of IPS officer Rashmi Karandikar’s husband, Purushottam Chavan.
