Temporarily Suspended Metro Service Resumes In Ahmedabad; Theft Of Power Cable Had Affected Facility

Commuters Get Relief As Service Restarts As Usual

Important news has surfaced for citizens who commute in the metro. Metro service of the route from Shahpur to Old High Court that was temporarily suspended, has now resumed. Apparently, on Wednesday night the metro cable of the above-mentioned route got stolen. Now, as the repair work has completed, the facility has resumed.

As per the information given by the Metro Department, due to the cable theft, metro services in the East-West corridor had been affected. With the help of Ahmedabad Police and GMRCL (Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Ltd), the cable was replaced by the employees at 13:26, and the service resumed as per the regular timetable at 13:37.

Ever since the metro facility has started in Ahmedabad, people are taking its full advantage for commuting purposes. Positive response has been received as citizens report hassle-free and swift commuting, free from the tension associated with traffic.

However, a strange incident had surfaced wherein a theft of the metro cable had taken place. To be precise, the cable of the route from Shahpur to Old High Court had been stolen. As a result, the metro facility from Apparel Park to Shahpur was temporarily suspended.

Similarly, metro services of the route from Vastral to Thaltej were also suspended for the time being due to technical glitches since early this morning (May 22). Announcement regarding the same was done through mic at the stations. In this way, metro train route from Vastral to Thaltej and from Thaltej to Vastral had been closed temporarily.

Meanwhile, a lot of commuters, including office-goers, had to face difficulty in the morning due to these issues, as they were not informed about it in advance. As a result, they had to switch to other modes of transport to reach their destinations or workplaces. They expressed resentment as they had also not been informed till when the repair work would go on and when the metro service would restart.
